Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 07, 2026

At WordCountly, accessible from wordcountly.site, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use WordCountly, how it is used, and the third-party services we rely on.

1. Text You Count Stays in Your Browser

Our counters are client-side only. All text processing and counting happen entirely within your browser. The text you type or paste into a counter is never sent to our servers, and we never store or transmit that content. The only exception is information you deliberately submit through our contact form, described in Section 4.

2. Local Storage on Your Device

To improve your experience, we store a small amount of data in your browser's local storage — specifically your recent "History" entries and your light/dark theme preference. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and is not accessible to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for wordcountly.site.

3. Log Files

Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard log files when you visit. These may include your internet protocol (IP) address, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, and referring/exit pages. This information is not linked to any personally identifiable information and is used only for operational and analytical purposes.

4. Contact Form

If you contact us through our contact form, you provide your name, email address, and message. We use this information solely to receive and respond to your inquiry. Messages are delivered to us using Mailjet, a third-party email service, whose processing is governed by their own privacy policy. We do not use the details you submit for marketing, and we do not sell or share them.

5. Analytics

We use privacy-conscious analytics to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate. This is provided by Google Analytics and Ahrefs Analytics, which may set cookies or collect anonymized usage data such as pages visited and general location. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or block analytics using your browser's privacy settings.

6. Cookies

WordCountly does not set its own tracking cookies. Any cookies present come from the third-party analytics services listed above and are used to measure site usage. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time.

7. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third parties, each with its own privacy practices: Google Analytics and Ahrefs Analytics (usage measurement), and Mailjet (contact-form email delivery). We encourage you to review their policies to understand how they handle data.

8. Your Rights & Contact

Because we do not maintain user accounts or store your content, we hold very little personal data about you. If you have any questions about this policy or wish to request information related to a message you sent us, please reach out through our contact page.

9. Consent & Changes

By using our website, you consent to this Privacy Policy. We may update this policy from time to time; any changes will be reflected on this page along with a revised "Last updated" date.
